Education has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic with 1.53 billion learners out of school and thousands of school closures nation-wide. Teachers in low income areas are heavily affected by these school closures as their salaries were directly covered by the payment made by the students. These teachers have had their salaries not paid in the month of March 2020, April 2020 and it would not be paid for subsequent months as long as the school closures last.
As a result of this, Adeola Ojeleye, a school coordinator, teacher and humanitarian has partnered with SCHOOLINKA to create a relief fund for these teachers. Schoolinka is a social enterprise that creates exciting professional development opportunities for low income teachers, makes them highly skilled and connect them with good paying teaching jobs.
Our goal is to support 500 teachers with N5,000 each that will help them feed for two weeks. To be part of the 500 teachers, please apply to the fund if you satisfy the requirements outlined below:
– You teach in a low-income school
– You have not been paid salaries in the month of March and April 2020
